Louis Carreon
Drawing from his colorful past and background in graffiti, rapping, skateboarding and surfing, California-born Louis Carreon is a visionary contemporary artist known for his enigmatic, abstract images inspired by religious iconography.Using art to reflect on the adversities of his past, his work uses contemporary ideas with classic concepts, paying homage to art history. In recent years, Carreon’s exhibited his artworks globally including Mexico City, Madrid and NYC.Notably Louis has been commissioned by Landmark Aviation to paint his narrative ISOT (International Symbols Of Travel)onto a 12-seater private jet as well as by Denison Super yachts to pain ISOT on a mega yacht for consecutive years duringArt Basel.Currently Louis is working on his Ryzantine narratives, updating spiritual and religious iconography for the modern world. Creating halos, sacred geometry, and mixing shamans and iconography with modern day street language and corporate culture relics from his own inceptions and his conversations with the Byzantine and Renaissance Masters.His latest major work is an 8 ft., 4000 lb. contemporary re-working of Bernini’s David in marble, with David dressed for the modern streets. This piece, is evidence of contemporary religious inspiration and a challenge to museums and galleries to acknowledge that reality.
